KB Trading to Offer Free Transfers from USDC to Bitcoin’s Lightning Network starting July 16th

USDC, a dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Boston based corporation Circle, is gaining traction in the payment and remittance industry. In October of 2021, Circle and money transfer giant Moneygram jointly announced a partnership to provide free services to USDC users. The service went live on June 10th, 2022.

Users can now use their USDC wallets for transfers which can be paid out in the local currency of the destination country. This service is available at Moneygram branches in a number of major remittance markets, including Canada, the United States, the Philippines, and Kenya. Moneygram customers can also convert cash into USDC, free of charge.

In light of growing USDC adoption, KB Trading is offering free transfers from USDC to the Lightning Network. This will allow anyone to instantly move USDC to a Bitcoin Lightning wallet for free.

The Lightning Network is a decentralized network which allows ultra low-cost and near instant Bitcoin transfers. Bitcoin is growing in popularity in many countries both for use in remittances and as an inflation-resistant store of value.

Some countries, including El Salvador and the Central African Republic, have moved to make Bitcoin legal tender. Politicians in several other countries, including Panama, Paraguay, Guatemala, and Honduras are discussing similar moves.

Remittances accounted for 24.1% of El Salvador’s GDP in 2020, amounting to more than $6 billion USD annually. The government is promoting the Lightning Network as a way to reduce remittance fees, which cost the country over $400 million every year. Proponents argue that this could be a major force in reducing poverty.

With the new service offered by KB Trading, people wishing to send money to El Salvador could convert local currency to USDC for free at Moneygram, and then move their USDC directly onto the Lightning Network. This would provide instant access to the Chivo wallet, which is being promoted by the Salvadoran government and has been downloaded by approximately 2 million Salvadorans.

Decide how you will trade

Often you can get better pricing using limit orders. But other times simple SWAP orders can get you the best price.

Understand path payments
DPath payments - unique to stellar since the beginning allow you to search all trading pairs for the best price. They are more powerful than SWAPs on Ethereum. For example perhaps going USDC -> XLM -> BTC would get your a better price than if you went directly from Bitcoin to Ethereum. Path payments or "Swaps" also allow you to tap into Liquidity Pools which Limit orders to not.

Beware scam tokens!
As Stellar is inexpensive to launch tokens - there are many that are fraudulent. If on stellar.expert there is a triangle next to the symbol. It is probably fraudulent..

Put your XLM on Stellar and earn!
A more advanced concept is to stake your XLM and Bitcoin, Eth, XRP or other crypto in a Liquidity Pool and earn upwards of 3% yield. This also makes the stellar network better. We recommend staking XLM with crypto and stable coins with stable coins. So called "correlated assets" provide a better risk based return. For example you could stake USDC - BRL, USDC - KES, USDC - IDRT. Or on the crypto side XLM - BTC (ultrastellar), XLM - BTC LN from kbtrading.

Often we are asked how to get started trading on Stellar. Should we use Stellarx? StellarTerm, Lumenswap?

The best way is to run your own code

The trick with stellar is not to trade fast... But to trade slow. This allows you not to get killed by the Binance speed trading crowd. To do this though you need a bot that puts up orders and refreshes them on an schedule and uses a good feed for prices.

You don't need Kelp

Kelp is a tool built by the Stellar foundation... it is great. But... it is not flexible and hasn't kept up the times. For example it doesn't support Liquidity Pools.

But not only code!
I highly recommend some decent charting software like stellarport.io or lumenswap have. I like stellarterm but I don't like how they hide the history. Albedo has a decent swap interface as does clpx.finance.

Whatever tool you use. Get started slowly
Start small and don't keep all your funds in one asset. Try and trade a circule like USDC -> USDS -> XLM -> USDC and then re-balance. Explore the stellar.expert market tab to find good markets to trade.
